The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) recently announced their 2006 Chesapeake Bay Small Watershed grants at a ceremony in Annapolis, Maryland.

For the third year in a row, NFWF has recognized RappFLOWs important work in coordinating citizen-based watershed protection in Rappahannock County. This competitive grant program received applications from all* six states in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

In Rappahannock County, volunteers will identify vulnerable sub watersheds, create a map of forest cover along streams, and help identify costeffective incentives for landowners to plant trees and shrubs along their streams.

Tb accomplish this exciting project, RappFLOW has the support of many individuals and partner organizations including the County of Rappahannock, Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District, Krebser Fund, Mount Vernon Farm, Piedmont Environmental Council, Piedmont Research Institute, Rappahannock Board of Realtors, Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance, Rappahannock County Health Department, Rappahannock County High School, Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, Rappahannock Nonprofit Center, RappahannockRapidan Regional Commission,
