The final roster for the teams stands at 10 seniors, 5 juniors, 10 sophomores, and 3 freshman. “We have a young team,” Pullen said, “Some of our senior players haven’t played as part of the team since freshman football.”
Also new to the team and the sport is Norwegian foreign exchange student, Arne-Marius Utne, a Junior. “He just wanted to play football, so we stuck him in there.” said Rappahannock High School Athletic Director J.D. Almond. “He can kick the life out of a ball,” Pullen said about Utne, who has never played on a football team before, “He catches on pretty quick.”
He was also proud of the team’s spirit at the opening of the season.
“The team played 100% all of the way until the end of the game,” he said, “I don’t believe that we will have a problem scoring this year.”
Pullen also mentioned that the team had a good attitude and worked hard.
“It’s a night and day difference than last year, he said, “The guys are really giving it one hundred percent.”
Last year the Panthers were 0-10, and lost several players to injuries. “I think that the fans will enjoy it more this year,” said Pullen, “Last year was a tough year for people to watch, it was very hard to stomach.” The Panthers will play the Bulldogs at Luray High School on Friday, September 1. The game starts at 7:30 PM.
