Wakefield Country Day School kicked off its Spring Sport season Monday, winning a home soccer game against Fredricksburg Academy by 2-1. Katherine Russo scored both goals as the girl’s varsity team played their first game. Other returning star athletes include Taylor Hammelman, a mid-fielder, Jody Green, Kat Toth, and Marguerite Beattie on defense. Newcomer Elida Optiz shows increasing promise as a mid-fielder.
