v/wuAiuj, o nao known as a “charismatic dynamo” whose energy and work habits would suggest a man much younger than his 71 years. He founded his cherry orchard, of over 1,000 trees in the mid1990s, although he worked at cherry growing for some 40 years prior to purchasing his Flint Hill property. Sellers was up at the crack of dawn every day to drive from his home in Falls Church to his cherry orchard to be there in time to greet people who made the “trek” up that steep mountain to pick his fruit. But he was also there to work with his sleeves rolled up, moving crates of cherries and driving them to market—which often included chains like Whole Foods. He even prepared shipments of his cherries to be shipped to grocery chains as far away as China.
A number of charitable groups were, beneficiaries of Sellers’ wellknown generosity. At the end of the day, if he had more freshly picked cherries than he could sell, he’d bucket them up and personally take them to food banks. And without fail, he would tell his customers, “If you will take these cherries to a shut-in or an elderly person, I will give you this package for them.” At the end of the season, he always gave away what was left of his crop.
Funeral arrangements are being planned but no announcements have been made by the family as of Wednesday afternoon. .
