as much as a doctor and a lawyer YES, the teaching profession is extremely important in our society, but no more so than firefighters, EMTs, police officers, soldiers or any other profession.
It takes all of us to make things work. We all contribute in our own way. All professions are needed to ensure society functions properly and all are important to the well-being and quality of life in this county.

Fadquier County is a rapidly growing county. Fauquier County has industries and businesses to support their tax base.
The 2006 school year in Fauquier County ended with an enrollment of 10,875 students. As of February 2007, enrollment has increased to 11,142 students. This is an increase of 267 students in less than one year.
The total population of Rappahannock County is less than 7,000, which means Fauquier has 4,000 more students than we have residents.
According to Dr. Chappell's office, in Rappahannock County our enrollment for 2007 is 991 students. In addition, we have had a decrease in enrollment each year for the last four or five years. In addition, the cost to educate students in Fauquier County, as of February 2007, is $7,216.13 per student.
According to my calculations, the Rappahannock school’s budget will cost the taxpayer’s well over $12,000 per student.
