What a relief it was for us to hear the engines approaching! Immediately after the initial team of firefighters began to work on containing the spreading fire, they put us at ease by their calm professionalism. They knew exactly what to do and how to do it, in a systematic and disciplined manner.
At first they concentrated their efforts on dousing the flames that were closest to the , house, but the fire was spreading in other directions as well because the wind kept shifting.
It took the firefighters more than three hours to completely extinguish the flames.
