S Build to last Choose products that last a king time and don’t require much maintenance, such as fiber cement siding, stone or brick masonry. A new recycled wood replacement, called Novaline, is made of agricultural by-products, such as corn husks. It is rot-free and can be painted or stained to look like wood. Non-toxic and recyclable, it is a higher-priced option, bud has long-lasting and low-maintenance advantages.
Metal roofing is another popular item. An Energy Star product, it reflects heat and is preferred by many over petroleumbased roof shingles that are not energy efficient or recyclable.
