As residents of
Rappahannock County for the past eight years, my wife Rita and I have felt like living in heaven because of our beautiful and peaceful surroundings.
During all these years, we met a lot of wonderful people here, but only last week did we learn to really appreciate the selfless dedication of many of our Rappahannock neighbors who day after day put themselves at risk by fighting fires in our community.
In the early afternoon of a very windy March 5th, we experienced a sudden power outage - something not uncommon in our situation, because we live in a forest through which runs a local electrical transmission line.
