There are several things I want to
comment on. First, I find it hard to believe that the Board of Supervisors approved $50,000 of taxpayers’ money to put toward fighting Dominion. This is a total misuse of taxpayers’ money. I commend Mr. Welch on his stand against using tax funds.
Peoplte who want to fight Dominion can form groups to go to the meetings to protest or write and call your state representatives. There are many ways to show opposition to Dominion without spending hard-earned tax money. If we have $50,000 to throw away by fighting Donpnion, then it is proof that the county is overtaxing its citizens and cannot think of any constructive ways to spend our tax money.
While I’m on taxes, I also read in the papers that Dr. Chappell is already starting the same song and dance he continues to do year after year. I can remember only one year in the last 15 years that teachers didn’t get a raise. There have been many years where the teachers have received raises from the county and the state, in addition to their merit increases.
Did anyone see the two segments on 20/20 about the teachers and how their pay compares to other salaries? This comparison was based on the number of hours worked by other professionals and teachers. In addition, the comparison show ed an hourly scale that the teachers pay was equal to that of other professionals, such as chemists and biologists.
