First Baptist Activities

The First Baptist Church Ushers Board will [ celebrate its anniversary on Sunday, October 3 at 3 p.m. The Rev. Sidney Jones of Centreville will be guest speaker. Ushers from the area churches are , invited to attend in uniform if possible.

There will be a song service directly following the regular 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday, October 3 at First Baptist. Music will be provided by the young adults of the church. The Rev. W.R. Grant is pastor of First Baptist and invites the public to attend. '

Ladies To Meet

The Flint Hill Ladies Auxiliary will meet on Monday, October 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the fire hall.

Plans for the barbecue on October 9, will be discussed and all members are urged to attend.

Charge Conference

The annual charge conference of the United Methodist Churches of the Rappahannock Charge will be held at the Willis Chapel Church Saturday. ^ October 2, at 2 p.m. All officers are urged to - attend.

Rock‘N’Roll Benefit 1

Local musicians will play at a benefit for Natures Foods and Cafe this Saturday night. October 9. belting out rock and roll from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Washington Fire Hall.

In the spotlight will be Bill Abernathy. Barry Mothersbaugh. Scott Mothersbaugh, Smiggy and Steve Pratt of the Okays, the area's premiere rock ‘n’ roll band. Terry Waggener, formerly with the Okays, will rejoin the group for Saturday 's benefit. Also adding their vocal and instrumental talents to the event’s line-up will be Mitch Hostetler, Warren Phinney, Ron Wilson, Linda Heimstra and Steve Hostetter.

The musicians organized the benefit dance as a way of saying “thank you” to Rae Haase, proprietor of Natures Foods, for providing the county’s only show case for live music.

Admission is $5. Tickets are available in advance at Natures Foods and Cafe and the Rappahannock News office. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
