It takes all kinds . . . and no one can better attest to that truism than those hardworking waiters and waitresses.
The strange guy, wearing a set of water goggles who wandered into the King’s Court Tavern in Leesburg last week prompted little more than a few good natured chuckles, according to manager Margie Williamson.
But when he sat down alone, and ordered a beer for himself and the finest burgundy in the house for his non-existent friends, Williamson firgured the guy “was probably on hard times.”
“The first tipoff was the water goggles, but then he ordered all these drinks. I served him one beer, and asked him the reason for wearing the goggles. He told me the winds get tough coming down from Mars.”
Restaurant employees have generally seen it all, and most expect to see more. In fact, it is one of the great lures of the Job, to meet diverse people.
