Cumberland, the second home on the tour sponsored by the Churchwomen of Brom field Parish October 16 and 17, is the residence of Mr. and Mrs. John Carlyle Herbert Hooff. Located on the Hazel River in Jenkins Hollow, the original house was built in 1898.
The Hooffs remodeled the old part of the house, expanding one room for the dining room and adding two chimneys and fireplaces as well as the swimming pool. The living room contains an 1870 Partner’s desk made in New England and a Hepplewhite wall table made in Baltimore in 1760. Also in the living room are an 1860 commode chair and a 1775 candle stand.
