This, in turn, requires at least a year of discreet assessment of the political realities, a “testing of the waters”, and the quiet but essential conversations such as those between Mr. Dalton, Mr. Durrette and Mr. Coleman.
There is not much doubt, at this very early state in the gubernatorial speculation, Mr. Durrette is the sentimental favorite of many of his party. At 44, he is youthful, bright and articulate, and his supporters feel he has been dealt with harshly by the fortunes of politics.
