Nancy Jane Smedley Beahm, lifelong resident of Rappahannock County, aged 94 years. 11 months and 27 days, would have celebrated her 95th birthday on September 21. She was born in this county on that day in 1887 to William Harvey and Julie Ann Clark Smedley.

Janie, as she was known to both family and friends, was married on April 24, 1918, to Silas Abram Beahm Sr., by the late Rev. R. J. Reynolds. Mr. Beahm was about 30 years her senior. The couple returned to Mr. Beahm’s residence (the old Billy Partlow estate) where they made their home together until Mr. Beahm's death. He died at the age of 84 on
