The permit application from the Rappahannock County School Board for a combination central office and bus maintenance facility breezed through the required approval process at last Friday's meeting of the Board of Zoning Appeals.

Superintendent Robert Estabrook presented rough drawings of the building to be constructed on the elementary school lot behind the present bus shop facility. Noting that no commitment has yet been made to any particular firm, he explained that the structure will be a pre-engineered metal building with off-street parking and direct access on the road leading to the elementary school. No decision has been reached on interior specifications or whether to enclose the bus parking area with a fence, the superintendent added. According to Estabrook. the proposed building will meet all setback distances specified by the zoning ordinance.
