Undefeated Strasburg slipped by the Panther harriers, 26-29, last Thursday in a home cross country meet at the Blue Rock Farms course.
Rappahannock's Ricky Shaw, consistently running second or third for RCHS in earlier meets, sat out the race with an injured foot. “There's a good chance we would have beat them with Ricky running," said coach Ann Speiker of the contest against the Bull Run District's first place team.
Scott Keithley again paced the field, finishing in 14:51, just six seconds off the record for the 2.7 mile course.
Ronnie Atkins was fourth in 15:30 followed by Craig Kenyon in sixth (16:00), , Larry Sisk in eighth (16:13)

Sunday, October 10, Wakefield completed a twogame sweep of the Winchester Flyer’s soccer club, with a decisive 4-3 victory at Lord Fairfax Community College.
Left wing Ron Lewsader opened the scoring with his second goal of the year. “Iron Guts” Lewsader ousted the ball out of the goalies hands and booted it into the net. With Wakefield up 1-0, it looked like victory number four was apparent. But the Flyers responded quickly to even the score of 11. The defense, however, tightened up for the rest of the half as fullbacks Doug Voeks, Rob Dickey, David Fawcett, Scotty Reid and goalkeeper Daniel Clark silenced the offense.
