News, there was a report of Sheriff John Walker Jenkins requesting the county supervisors to replace the stove in the jail. “The one we’ve got pops and carries on and puts out little heat,” the sheriff said. Despite reservations by Supervisor Herbert Foster, the board voted to furnish a new stove for the jail.
David Wharton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wharton of Sperryville, celebrated his 9th birthday on October 7, 1972, at the Village Inn in Sperryville. Those attending were Michael and Gary Leake, Gary and Greg Bright, Johnny Jenkins, Wayne Sisk and Jamey Sisk.
At the Hillsdale Drive-In in Washington was Performance with Mick Jagger. Free admission was offered for this last showing of the season. All food was half price and ice cream was free.
