Parking Requirements Questioned as to parking spaces at the school which has a current enrollment of 270, Lynn said it depended on how people park. “We don’t have lined spaces," she said, estimating that the lot could accommodate about 30 cars and the school’s ten buses. “I’m not sure how big it’s going to be (when the parking lot is enlarged as part of the proposed construction project). We haven't done that yet."
Konick noted that one parking space will have to be provided for every six seats in the new gymnasium.
Lynn countered that the gym will not have fixed seats.
“That doesn’t make any difference. What’s the gym’s capacity?’1 the zoning administrator asked.
“I don’t know — around 800,” replied Lynn.
“If you have 800 seats in the gym, you’ll need 160 parking spaces,” Konick noted. “These are all matters for the planning commission (which must approve the site plan for the project). I just want you to be aware of them,” he said, asking if Wakefield had approval for the new exit from the Highway Department.
“I don’t know if we have an official permit or not...We have verbal approval,” Lynn answered.
“1 suggest you have the permit ( as well as a right-ofway agreement from the landowner whose property will be crossed by the new exit) in hand for the planning commission meeting on October 20," Konick advised, as the BZA members voted unanimously to issue the special use permit for the gymnasium.
