World Of Antiques

On October 22, 23 and 24. the 13th Annual Purcellville Heritage Antiques Show will be held at the Skating Pavilion, just off of Rt. 7. in Purcellville.

Sponsored by St. Francis de Sales Church, the show will feature selected exhibitors offering for sale of 18th and 10th century American oriental and English period and country furniture as well as accessories including porcelains, silver. Oriental rugs and carpets, tools, linens, paintings. Japanese wood-block prints and Ikehana baskets and jewelry.

Show hours will be from Noon to 0:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from Noon to (> p.m. on Sunday.

Free Concerts

The Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music will present the first in its free Symphom Orchestra Concert Series on Sunday, October 24. The concert, under the direction of Dr. William Averitt, will be given in Armstrong Auditorium at 3:00 p.m. The program will open with Academic Festival Overture by Brahms. The Bach Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D. which includes the well-known “Air", and Stravinsky’s Symphony in Three Movements complete the afternoon program. Several student jazz combos will play traditional and student compositions in a second free concert at Shenandoah on Monday, October 25. at 7:00 p.m. in Goodson Chapel-Recital Hall. Among the composers are Ellington. Hancock. Strayhorn, and Mancini.
