cernible. A dam was built about 200 yards above the mill on a curve in the stream. There are some timbers with notches in them that must have been used in the dam construction. They are in the stream under the water in apparently good condition.
“About 100 years uphill from the mill site is a house seat. The chimney is still standing and you can see the outline of the foundation which is 20 ft. square.
“The old mill has been known as the brandy camp. It got this name by the mill site being used to make illegal whiskey. You can see indentations where the mash barrels were buried in the earth for fermentation. This was a beautiful day with temperature 62 degrees. Sam’s father, Mr. Keith Riley, told him about the laborers and their pay.
