Lucketts Fair
The annual Lucketts Country Fair offers a taste of the good old-fashioned country lift* this Saturday and Sunday, August 27 and 28 (rain or shine).
That “taste” includes seven flavors of homemade ice cream, baked goods, Sam Legard’s bar-b-que (recently named “best ribs you can buy” by Washingtonian Manag Magazine), live bluegrass music, oldfashioned children’s games like “needle in the haystack,” a farm yard petting zoo, cakewalks, fresh farm produce, craft sales and demonstrations of such vanishing arts as butter making, soap making, candlewicking, spinning and chair caning.
Other attractions will be a Civil War encampment presented by the 7th Virginia Volunteer Infantry, clogging, square dancing, historic tours, log cabin exhibit, antique market and a community photo show.
The fair will be held from 10 to 5 each day at Lucketts Community Center on Route 15 eight miles north of Leesburg.
RAAC Street Dance
By popular request, the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community is sponsoring a street dance on Friday night, September 2, on Gay Street in Washington.
Proceeds from the dance will benefit RAAC projects.
Attention Flintknappers
The Thunderbird Museum and Archeological Lark is sponsoring an Advanced Flintknapping Workshop on Saturday, August 27. 'I'his session is for individuals who have previous experience in flintknapping. Advance registration is required. To register, call the museum at 635-7337.
