that the Datsun was traveling at about 55 miles per hour for it to have been adjacent to the tractor when it pulled into the passing lane and then at the front of the tractor wheels at the moment of impact.
Judge Alexander agreed and assessed Tholand $25 plus $20 costs for making an improper turn.
To prove the guilty driver was the object of testimony in another accident case.
Thomas Kindall said he was driving home through Gid Brown Hollow on August 5 when the driver of a black Chevy ran him off the road, then sped away. Kindall identified the driver as Gregory Allen Pullen, an area resident. Police responding to the accident found the Kindall vehicle in a ditch with damage to the front wheel. There was no other driver on the scene nor any witnesses.
Kindall swore out a warrent for Pullen’s arrest, but Pullen denied being in the area at the time of the accident.
In court, Pullen testified that he had been in Culpeper that evening, but wasn’t able to establish his whereabouts at the exact time of the accident. He was found guilty of reckless driving and fined $50 plus $20 court costs.
