Draft Horses Star
At Belle Grove Draft horses and mules will be the stars at Belle Grove Plantation in Middletown on Saturday, September 3.
Sponsored by the Virginia Draft Horse and Mule Association, Belle Grove’s draft horse and mule day will present all the modern uses of these four-footed workers: plowing, mowing, discing and raking. In addition, there will be exhibitions for team hitch, competition in team obstacle course and log pull and for draft animals, a ladies’ cart obstacle course.
Other activities include wagon rides, mule rides, tours of the Belle Grove Mansion, demonstrations at a working blacksmith’s shop, an exhibition of all draft horse breeds craft sales and participation games for children and adults.
