Upcoming Events

Meeting And Picnic

The Rappahannock Fire and Rescue Association’s monthly meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, August 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Sperryville Rescue Squad’s building. All members of the county’s fire and rescue companies are encouraged to attend.

The Association will be the host at a softball game and picnic on Saturday, August 20, beginning at 4 p.m. at the county park on Route 211.

Barbecued chicken and drinks will be provided. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish to contribute to the feast.

The picnic is open to all members of the county’s Fire and Rescue Association. For more information, call Sherry Hamill at 075-3848.

Jenkins Reunion

The annual reunion for the relatives and friends of the late Luther E. and Ada F. Jenkins will be held at the picnic area of Graves Mountain Lodge, Syria on Sunday, August 28, from 10 until dark.

All those attending are asked to bring a picnic lunch, which will be served at 1 p.m.

Jubilee Marks Battle

A Fall Jubilee will commemorate the historic JH Jubilee of the Rattle of Bull Run celebrated in Manassas in 1911. The event will recreate the atmosphere of the 1911 Jubilee which brought veteran soldiers from the north and the south together for the first time since the Civil War to meet on the battlefield in friendship.

Held on Saturday, September 24, from 10 to 5, the Jubilee will feature entertainment, costumes, food, games, and exhibits from the turn of the century.

Pippin

Pippin, starring Ben Vereen, Chita Rivera, William Katt and Martha Raye, is RAAC’s film selection this week. Dazzling dancing and magical music characterize this Tony award winning fantasy from Broadway. Bob Fosse’s film version will be shown Saturday at 8:00 and Sunday at 7:00, both at the Gay Street Theater in Washington.
