South Carolina Casserole

Lay a row of raw rice (approximately two tablespoons) in the bottom of a baking dish. Cover with a layer of sliced tomatoes sprinkled with salt and sugar. Add a layer of sliced okra. Repeat the layers until dish is filled. Put butter on top. Bake covered for one hour or until the rice is done in a 350 degree oven. For extra luxury, layers of diced, cooked chicken can be added.
