Nature’s Sugars
Native provides lots of sugars in our foods. Foods such as honey, molasses, maple syrup, com syrup, and com sweeteners are pure sugars. Foods such as dates, raisins, coconut, milk, concentrated fruit juices, fresh and dried fruits are all naturally sweet. The sugars in these foods are fructose and lactose. Dextrose, sucrose, and glucose are also sugars.
So, read labels carefully. They may not say sugar, but they may list any one of the sugars mentioned above. Remember that ingredients are listed by the amount in the product. Sometimes there are two sugars listed instead of one listed first in the ingredients. So, be careful - especially if you are a diabetic. There are many hidden sugars in our foods. Read labels carefully.
