Mr. Fife’s supporters reportedly have raised $26,000 to launch a campaign which could cost $300,000 to $600,000 if he gets the nomination.
“We believe that Francis will be able to raise substantial sums of money in all areas of the district,” said George Gilliam, former Democratic District chairman and the man who in 1974 gave Rep. Robinson the closest race of his career.
