girl, Camelia (Christine Bronson), rejects him just because he’s short. But he has become an expert on the female psychology (their conversation consists on nothing but giggles and gossip, he notices) and wins out in the end to the amazement of the more macho “men.”
There is Jack (Randy Moran) who sees a “sexy smile” when he looks in the mirror, he wishes he could major in surfing at high school. There are “insiders” Sal (Loren Sciurba) and Neal (Gaston deBeam) by whose bad example the others decide there really are no outsiders — everyone has a place and just has to find it. The girfs swoon over Eric (Sean Bennett) when he becomes a punk singer during “Love Stinks.”
These girls, especially Tessie (Rae Marie Lutes), who does the swooning, and Codi (Doretha Butler), all perform with a high level of energy as well.
As director Pali Delevitt comments in the program notes, “We are very fortunate to have such sensitive and talented young people in our midst, and to be given the opportunity to hear what they have to say.”
