Miss Rappahannock Pageant
The annual Miss Rappahannock Beauty Pageant was held on Friday, April 12, and Nikki David was named Miss Rappahannock for 1985. The event was sponsored by the Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Second and third runners up were Jackie Settle and Lisa Wharton respectively. Jennifer Wines was named Junior Miss Rappahannock, and Shannon Williams was the first runner-up.
This year’s Petite Miss Rappahannock is Shannon Marie Watter with Stephanie Sealock and Michelle Dawson as first and second runners up. The Little Miss Rappahannock winner was Kelly Hall, and the first and second runners up were Janie Wines and Kimberly Jenkins.
Tiffany Keys won the title of Tiny Miss Rappahannock with first and second runners up Amanda Welch and Crystal Renee Leake. The Wee Miss Rappahannock title went to Crystal Grigsby, and Emily Taylor and Ericka Jenkins were first and second runners up.
The Master of Ceremonies was Phil Irwin, and the judges were Lou Ellen Miller, Bea Smoot and Henry M.N. Robertson.
• Pyne Sentenced
Ronald Edward Pyne, charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of defacing property, grand larceny and defacing State property was sentenced for the offenses in Circuit Court on Thursday, April 18.
A plea agreement was presented to Judge William Shore Robertson, and Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke asked that the agreement be adopted because Pyne had come forward and made a complete statement after the crimes. “This experience has taught me a lot,” said Pyne, who is currently serving a jail sentence in Culpeper County.
Judge Robertson adopted the agreement that sentenced Pyne to five years in prson on each of the three felony charges to run consecutively. All of the sentence was suspended. Pyne also was sentenced to 12 months in jail for each of the three misdemeanor charges to run consecutively, and all but 55 days of that sentence was suspended.
Pyne will be placed on supervised probation for five years upon his release. The conditions of the agreement were that Pyne pay restitution and his court costs, undergo blood and alcohol analysis testing and have out-patient substance abuse counselling.
