Registration for children eligible to enter kindergarten in the fall of 1986 will be held in the office of Rappahannock County Elementary School on Thursday, May 9 and Friday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. by appointment from the school. This may be arranged by calling the school at 987-8259. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
The following statements taken from Virginia School Laws 22.1-254 and 22.1-256, outline compulsory school age requirements. If your child is: five years old by September 30, you may enroll your child, or you must notify the school that you will wait a year; five years old after September 30, you may wait a year to enroll your child, and if you choose to wait, you are not required to notify your school; six years old by September 30, you must enroll your child in school.
The child’s official birth certificate issued by the appropriate state health department should be available at registration. A hospital certificate is not acceptable. In addition, forms entitled “Physical Examination and Health Record”
