The panoramic view from the defense tower provided an impressive view of Alsace and the opportunity for the photographers in the group to use film. The night was spent in St. Hippolyte, a quaint town at the base of the mountain near the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle.
On Thursday, the group drove to Riquewihr, a beautifully preserved 16th century village devoted to wine making, and continued to Lucerne, Switzerland which is located in the Swiss Alps at the base of the towering Mt. Pilatus. There they visited the Lion Monument and viewed the many picturesque, hand-painted houses.
