The Virginia Division of Forestry, in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service, is planning to test the effectiveness of a natural virus on low-level gypsy moth populations near Chester Gap in Rappahannock.

The virus was formulated by the U.S. Forest Service and has been tested on moderate and high-level populations in New England. The formulation will be applied by helicopter tentatively on April 26. The virus has been approved and registered for use
