Big Bucks For Prize Beef

If you have a prize beef recipe, you have a chance at winning “big bucks” on May 18th at the 7th Annual Virginia Beef Cook-Off. The contest sponsored by the Virginia Cattlewomen, at James Madison University, in Harrisonburg, has increased the prize money for 1985. The first place winner will receive $200 and entry into the National contest in Wichita, Kansas September 24-26, 1985, where top prize is $5,000. Virginia’s second and third place winners will receive $100 and $50 respectively.

Eligibility Requirements Include: .. Recipes must contain a minimum of one pound, not more than five pounds of chuck, round, rump, fresh brisket, plate, shank or ground beef in any form. .. Meat must be exclusively beef and each recipe serving should contain at least three ounces of cooked beef. .. Cooking time is riot to exceed four hours (does not include preliminary preparation time, such as for marinating).
