Send your prize beef recipe to: The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. No official entry form is needed.
Mail your entry to Beef Cook-offs, VDACS, P.O. Box 1163, Richmond, Virginia 23209. Be sure to include your name, complete address, phone number and a brief statement as to the origin of your recipe.
Recipe finalist will be selected by VDACS Home Economists and prepared by contestants on the day of the Virginia Beef Cook-off.
Criteria for scoring is: Taste, ease of preparation, practicality and appearance.
Contestants in the Virginia BeefCook-off must be 18 years or older, with non-professional food-status. Any person who has owned one or more head of beef or dairy cattle (or whose husband, wife or children have owned cattle) in the 12 months preceding October 1, 1985 cannot compete. Virginia Cattlewomen and employees of State beef councils or the Beef Industry Council of the Meat Board are also ineligible.
