The updated sounds of • that old time religion will set the rafters ringing at Promise Land Baptist Church on Sunday, Nov. 15.
The special concert at 3 p.m. will feature the Harambee Gospel Singers, a 50-voice group from Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music in Winchester.
Harambee means “unity” in the Swahili landguage, and unity is what the group has af-' ter six years of performing in. the Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore areas. The concert in Rappahannock is the kick-off for a fall tour that will take the group to Virginia Beach, Mississippi and New York City.
The Harambee Gospel Singers are- directed by : Bobby Lewis, who is a voice and education major at the Conservatory.
“Harambee has grown in ■ numbers and has grown spiritually under Mr. Lewis’ lead- -i ership,” says a concert organizer. “They are excited about the Lord and eager to. minister here in Rappahannock County.”
