During its entire 25-year history, the Amissville Ruritan Club has had an active interest in the activities and accomplishments of Rappahannock County’s students. During this period, the Ruritans have sponsored a number of awards for achievement and scholarship.
This year’s celebration of the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution has stimulated a challenge by the Ruritan Club to determine how the high school students of the 1980s evaluate this honored document.
Last month, Col. Ellis Bingham and long-time Ruritan H. R. Terhune, both members of the club’s Citizenship and Patriotism Committee, proposed an essay contest to the student body of Rappahannock County High School. The subject of the essay is “The U.S. Constitution: What It Does for Me.”
RCHS Principal John Toth graciously accepted the challenge on behalf of the students and introduced
