bank statements or deposit books. Limits for cash resources are $3,000 for households that include a person 60 and over or disabled and $1,500 for households with no members 60 and over or disabled.
All fuel assistance applications will be processed within 30 days. If a household is found eligible for fuel assistance, a notice will be provided, indicating the maximum Kiel assistance available for the household. The actual amount of assistance alloted to each household will be based on income, household size, fuel used, whether the household lives in subsidized housing, and geographic area of the state. Eligible households living in subsidized housing and roomers renting only one room will receive a lower benefit than other households.
Fuel bills are submitted to the household’s local social service agency by the vendor or household. Households using wood or coal will generally receive the payment directly. In most other cases, payments are made directly to the fuel vendor until the total amount of the household’s fuel benefit has been used or until the ending date for deliveries/services on April 15, 1988. When a household has used all of its benefit, or at the end of the fuel year, each household will be notified by the state of all payments made to a fuel vendor on the household’s behalf.
