According to the rules of the contest, the essay must be 500 words in length and be submitted by Sunday, Nov. 15. First prize will be a $100 United States Savings Bond. For additional information about the contest, contact Mr. Wingfield or Ms. Griffith at the high school.
The Ruritans have also gained the cooperation of Congressman D. French Slaughter Jr., who along with Jane Clatterbuck, his legislative assistant, agreed to select a panel of three judges to determine the winner. “Thus, greater honor and recognition will be given to the student with the winning essay,” Mr. Terhune said.
The winner will be announced before the Thanksgiving holiday, and the essay will be published in the Rappahannock News.
