Pete Jenkins was on the site all summer, working whenever he had the time, Mr. (John) Jenkins said. And, although he modestly refused to admit any involvement, John Jenkins also has spent much of his free time during the warm months working on the building.
Mr. Jenkins added that the church would gladly accept donations of church pews, or money to purchase pews. “The church doesn’t have the money to get them; perhaps people would like to donate them in memory of loved ones,” he said.
Rev. Edward Jenkins, the church’s pastor, echoed Mr. Jenkins’ thanks to all who had contributed their time and efforts.
“I think it’s marvelous,” Mr. Jenkins concluded. “Even the little children and ladies who came in and cleaned up the church yard. We appreciate everything all have done - no matter how large or small — we appreciate it all.”
