He called the ordinance “wise” in not prohibiting the commercial use of a building just because it lacks sufficient parking. “We want to preserve the heritage of the town without seeing asphalt wall to wall so people can park cars - that’s wrong.”
Rev. Jennings Hobson III, rector of Trinity Church, pointed out that the necessary parking places could be created by taking out the front yard. “That’s a travesty, to take out the yard to make a parking lot.”
