In September, the Department of Waste Management reviewed results of soil tests and borings and determined that the Stover site appeared to be suitable for a landfill, clearing the way for the design phase of the permitting process to begin. With that response from the state in hand, the county finalized the conditional sales contract.
Asked if the Department of Waste Management had requested additional hydrological data, Mr. McCarthy said: “I don’t think they specifically asked for more information but they think it would be in our best interests to provide it.”
