This is the first year the district has presented the Chesapeake Bay Clean Water Farm Award to a landowner from each county. The Rappahannock County winner this year was Louis P. Moore Jr. of Flint Hill. Mr. Moore follows conservation tillage or other conservation measures designed to limit the erosion rate for the entire farm. His confined livestock operations are managed to prevent animal waste from polluting water in the neighboring streams. He has soil tests done regularly for proper fertilizer application.
The annual Natural Resources Conservation Week poster contest winners were presented certificates of award for being grade-level winners. Holly Moffett, 9th grader at Rappahannock County High School, won first place in the 9th grade category.
