The fundraising event attracted several other Fauqtiier candidates, including Alice Jane Childs, commissioner of revenue, Cedar Run Supervisor Wilbur Burton and Sheriff Ashby Olinger, each of whom plans to run for re-election. Also in attendance were planning commissioner Michael Molloy, a Democratic candidate for the Lee District supervisor seat, and Jean Brown, candidate for the 33rd District seat, which includes The Plains and Rectortown precincts.
Fauquier Democratic chairman William Barr called the event “a bipartisan turnout,” which he said appeared to indicate a wide spectrum of support.
Barr’s observation was later echoed by Ms. Terry who said, “Jerry Wood appears to have an extraordinarily broad political base that transcends political boundaries.”
Wood, owner of Fauquier Pharmacy in Warrenton, has been eyeing the House of Delegates for more than 10 years, but the Democrat said that he would run only if redistricting yielded a district that included a majority of Fauquier County.
