The idea behind the new service begun by Hint Hill resident William Remington is to bring together architects and people in this region who are planning to build.
“I’m looking for anyone who wants to build something, from a home to a church or a hospital,” said Mr. Remington, who recently launched a building, design and services consulting firm out of his home in Rappahannock.
Mr. Remington spent 23 years with architectural magazines and then 20 more as a public affairs officer with HOK, one of the world’s most successful commerieal architectural firms.
•Although he’s not an architect himself, Mr. Remington is well connected with many of the leading architects and designers in the building industry. He wants to share that experience with his.new neighbors and hopefully establish a source of extra income for himself.
“This is a beautiful county — what could be more beautiful? People are finding it, and it’s a golden opportunity to put up something useful and comfortable to themselves. I’m saying go for what you can get," he said.
Mr. Remington cited some of the common mistakes made by those planning to build as failure to search competitively for an architect, designing from the outside-in, and not taking into consideration their own living habits.
