The objective of this cooperative project is to restore the peregrine falcon as a viable breeding species in its former eastern range through release of captive bred peregrine falcons.
Historically, peregrine falcons were last reported to dwell in Shenandoah National Park in the early 1950s when most eastern peregrine falcon populations were decimated, by both natural and man-caused forces. Superintendent Bill Wade states, “The successful restoration of this majestic avian species in Shenandoah National Park will be a tribute to the hardiness of the falcon and the dedicated efforts of all agencies and personnel involved in the recovery of this species.
Park biologists will continue to participate in the release of the peregrine falcon to help ensure its return to its former range.

Arundel Newspapers announced recently the appointment of Jeanna Durham as Director of Printing Sales and Marketing.
The company, based near Dulles Airport, publishes the Rappahannock News and 11 other community newspapers in Northern Virginia, and operates a Commercial Printing Division with two newspaper production plants and a full service sheet fed printing company.
Arcom also announced recently purchase of an eight-acre site at Gainesville for construction of a third production plant and company headquarters.
