“I’m going to miss the old library, even though I was only there for a week, but it was a little too cozy for all these books,” she added.
Jean Moffett was the first customer. She said the new library was “lovely,” but she was sorry it wasn’t the easy walk from her house that the old library was.
Volunteer Ruth Richards urged her to walk up regularly anyway. “It will be so good for you,” she said.
Six-year-old Elaine Smith checked out eight books. “It’s beautiful,” her mother said.
Libby Whetzel came to check out the facilities for the Literacy Volunteers to use for tutoring GED students in the evening. “I think it’s lovely,” she said. “It’s much roomier and lighter.”
