Perhaps another perspective is apropos to the current controversy over who will run Wakefield (“Wakefield evicted; Mrs. Lynn drops suit,” June 13). As a parent of two alumni and as teacher and head of the Classics Department at Wakefield for the past seven years, it amazes me that the central issue keeps being lost in “lawy&r-ese.”
The board unequivocally stated publicly and frequently that Pam Lynn would be vice president in charge of curriculum, then consistently and reprehensibly sidestepped the issue of exactly what her duties would be. My personal view has always been that Mrs. Lynn was much too generous both in the terms of the turning over of the school and in her estimation of the motivations of certain board members. To parents and teachers who early expressed concerns about her role and board procedures, she counselled giving a six-month period of adjustment to those new to the task of serving on the board.
