Mr. Hitchcock added that his "time and energy” are being consumed by his commitment to Millfield, a low-and moderate-income housing project he is planning in the Warrenton area.
Del. Guest, who is the minority leader in the House of Delegates, called the redistricting plan "the worst I’ve ever seen. It is absolutely incredible that the Democratic majority would go to the extent it did to pair Republican incumbents in the same districts."
As evidence of the blatant political motivation he charges is behind the new districts, Del. Guest cited the 15 GOP delegates and one independent who have been paired in eight House districts. Speaking as one of the plaintiffs in a lawsuit filed to challenge the plan. Guest added, "If the Supreme Court wants to look at an example of politically-motivated gerrymandering, this is a perfect example of it."
