Two of those named as potential candidates both said they had been approached about running for the seat, but declined. Remington attorney Robert A. Niles said, “I’ve given some thought to it, yes. But,” he added, “we're looking for somebody more appropriate, the strongest candidate."
He said the three counties’ chairmen are “cooperating ... exploring all three counties. We don’t think this is a Fauquier seat. It represents all the people of all three counties. A vote in Rappahannock or Warren County counts just as much as a vote here. This is an overall district effort."
