As part of national cooperative effort to restore the peregrine falcon to parts of its former range throughout the United States, Shenandoah National Park will provide release sites for peregrine falcons this spring and summer.
The cooperative efforts of personnel between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, the College of William and Mary, and the Shenandoah National Park have resulted in the successful release of thirteen falcons in the last two years. In this the third and last year of the release program, twelve falcons will be released from two sites in the park.
